Menara Kudus Mosque

Menara Kudus Mosque -also known as Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Manar Mosque– is an ancient mosque in City of Kudus, at Java Central Province of Indonesia. It was built by Sunan Kudus at the year 1549 After Christ (Masehi) or year 956 Hijr, using bricks from Baitul Maqdis of Palestine as the first brick to start the building project. It stated at Kauman Village, District Kota, Kudus City, Java Central province. The mosque has an unique architecture, since it has Menara (tower) that is similar to a temple or shrine. This Menara symbols the union of islamic culture (the tower or Menara) with the Hinduism culture.
The existence of this unique Menara makes this mosque is known by “Menara Kudus Mosque”, instead of its real name Al-Aqsha Mosque. Menara Kudus Mosque is therefore an ancient building deserve for restoration. The condition of this mosque however is still fine (in good condition), of course with repairment and maintenance. The people of Kudus where the Mosque lies is wellknown as a religiustic society. The people pay a great attention on religius building such as Mosque, so the Mosque is still ina good condition, and fully functional for every day pray.
People of Indonesia and from other countries continue to visit The Mosque, especially at the religius-holiday or special occasion, like Ramadhan Month (Hijr) every year.
